In a few hours more, I would be in a bus, on my way to Olongapo, where, because of my school's Theology class, I would meet and live with several bar women and women who sell themselves to make a living. (They aren't to be called prostitutes, said my formator AKA the-one-in-charge, because it's impolite.)

I'm now packed. I hope I have everything that I need for the 3 days that I will be spending there, and that my luggage aren't too much. 'Cause they did say to "pack lightly" but, being the disobedient and stubborn student that I am (okay, not really, but I do think that I am only just bringing the bare essentials--it's just that what I consider as bare essentials didn't fit one bag), I will be bringing 2 bags: 1 big and 1 for carrying all my personal stuffs like IDs. I really hope we don't go around touring bars (because the whole point of immersion is to "immerse" ourselves in the situations that the people who we'll be staying with experience everyday) with all of our things because, although I won't have a hard time lugging my stuff around because it's really travel-friendly, it's really embarassing and weird to enter a bar while lugging a huge bag with me (as if I'm running away from home). Haha...

I also really hope I don't get stuck sleeping on the streets, like my formator said. 'Cause then, I really won't know what to do with my stuff.

I hope everything goes alright tomorrow and the two days after that. Please pray for me and for the people that I'll be inter-acting with. I hope I don't do a major faux pas and offend them or something and I also hope that my co-immers...ees? and I don't come to any harm during this trip. Most especially me, of course. :D Haha...

Okay, here we go!

WRITER'S BLOCK!

In general, do you find yourself more attracted to people with similar or different interests, life experiences, political beliefs, and religious backgrounds? Do you think having some common interests/goals is essential for a successful relationship?

View 558 Answers

YES.

I believe that, even if they don't have the same interests on the surface, if a group of people have the same core values as each other, only then can they have a successful relationship. It won't work otherwise.

If it looks like One Piece, feels like One Piece, smells like One Piece, sounds like One Piece, and has characters and a plot line like One Piece...

...it's Hiro Masashi's Fairy Tail. (It even makes use of of the word nakama!)

Haha, all that aside though, it's pretty nice. Just wish that Masashi guy could've made it a little more different, so as not to seem like a Magician-version of One Piece.

What is your all-time favorite, romantic movie scene? What about it speaks to you?

View 1070 Answers

Hm. I don't really know if this is my most favorite one but when I read the question, the one thing that came to mind was the end of Notting Hill, where Julia Roberts, pregnant, was laying on Hugh Grant's lap while he was reading on a bench in a park. It was just so peaceful and happy, y'know? (That, and Julia Robert's foot was twisted beyond what I considered as humanly capable. O_O)

[EDIT] OH! And Thumbelina and Prince Cornelius' whole... Let Me Be Your Wings number. :D

WRITER'S BLOCK TIME!

If you had one night left to live, what would you do? Would you prefer to spend your final night with a loved one or alone? What would you choose for your last meal?

View 1152 Answers

Oh, wow, how morbid and sad.

Well, if I had one night (not even one whole day?) to live, I would probably create a short will and testament, then immediately after, do something I haven't done before while also having a final talk with my loved ones--or, wait, I don't even need to do something I haven't done before, as long as I get enough time to say goodbye and thanks and all that...

As for my last meal, although it's not really my favorite, I would probably want a steak. Not just any steak, but a very good steak.

...or maybe that's just because I want to eat steak now. :|

I'm such a loser. Haha... ON TO THE WRITER'S BLOCK!

Do you think your moods are controlled by your brain chemistry or that your brain chemistry dictates your moods? Do you believe people are born with particular emotional temperaments or that they are primarily shaped by environmental factors?

Submitted By [info]abelincoln1864

I really think it goes two ways.I mean, there are cases in which our "mood" is due to brain chemistry--or even biological factors like adrenalin and hormones. Significant examples are scientific and clinical conditions like Clinical Depression (brain chemistry) or PMS or Post-Partum Depression and Pregnancy high (hormones). Also, due to some biological factors, people with a certain biological make-up do get angry more than others. However, I believe that mood could and is also (be) influenced by environmental factors (or factors outside of a person), like continuously making mistakes can cause aggravation or feeling love and support from others can cause happiness.

...I really don't know why I answered this. :| I think everyone is of the same opinion, rendering my answer useless. :))

If you're going on a long plane or road trip, what sort of reading materials do you bring along? Is it different from what you usually read? Will you watch a trashy movie or read a bad novel or magazines just to pass the time?

View 851 Answers

I used to bring pocket books that I just bought or a pack of cards but now that I have my own laptop, I usually just bring my laptop and play games or chat with whomever I was travelling with. However, if I do have to bring a book (and some times I do, in case my laptop's battery runs out or something), I usually bring a romance fiction novel. Although I DO enjoy reading the occasional hard-core book like, I dunno, Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky or Blindness by Saramago, I prefer to be stress-free when reading for leisure so I usually pick a light, romance fiction book that, although thick, I can finish within a few hours without worrying if I missed something significant in the story. It's useless in terms of furthering a person's knowledge, I agree, but I still like it, nonetheless.

And, as for the third question, yes, I probably will.

-------------------

Hopefully, I'll be able to go to the game tomorrow 'cause it's the last one and I want to experience being at a championship game at least once before I graduate. :(

Since I have time...

What band are you dying to see live in concert that you've never seen before? Would you travel to a different city or state just to see them?

View 2061 Answers

Well, I have none now, but I used to agonize over several Japanese bands like L'Arc~en~Ciel.

...

MOST ESPECIALLY L'Arc~en~Ciel. *laughs*

But if I did, and if I could spare the cash, I would, yes. However, I do have priorities, one of which is to visit at least ONCE the Tenshi no Sumika and Tenshi no Sato stores in Japan--even if I don't have any Volks dolls. (Hideyuki Shigeta, please take pity on me and re-release Hewitt again NEXT YEAR, when I have the money and the proper resources to get him. Thank you.)

OMG.

Ondoy struck Manila and its surrounding areas mildly at first, last Friday evening. PAG-ASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophisical and Astronomical Services Association) gave a STORM SIGNAL #1 warning, which only tells people to be alert and not panic, so classes and work weren't suspended. The rain didn't stop pouring and, in fact, only poured harder (especially around 2pm Saturday), until Sunday early morning, around 2am. And even then, there were mild showers occuring on and off. There was flood on everything and everywhere.

I'm so lucky I managed to get home from school last Saturday, even if I got there soaking wet, and that I live in a condominium building. My father who drove me to school at 8:00am Saturday got home at around 12:30am-1:00am on Sunday. He got home safely though and the lobby and the basement (and the elevators) were the only places that got flooded in. The residential area (5th floor and above) weren't harmed, thank goodness. However, a lot of my friends, family, and loved ones were actually harmed by the flood.

Telephone, internet, cellphone signals and electricity were down. Some, like mine, only had no electricity for an hour or so during midnight (although our internet just came back only just a short while ago). Some even had their houses burned due to short-circuiting of certain electrical wires. (The water first served as a way for the short-circuiting and then as a conductor to the flammable items inside the houses.)

This is the Quezon Boulevard underpass, along Claro M. Recto Avenue. I actually passed through this road to get home last Saturday. When I passed through Recto Avenue, around 12nn, the water was around waist deep and I was holding my bag high above my head to keep my laptop from getting wet. The underpass is higher than two or even three cars combined and it was completely submerged under water around evening.

One of my friend's house near Quezon City. As you can see, the water managed to reach up to around half of the ground floor of their house. That's just a semi-mild case. Some houses got totally submerged under the flood.

Please, pray for everyone that was harmed, one way or another, by Ondoy.

From http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090607/ap_on_re_us/us_teen_hiv_injection

A man working as a phlebotomist who got a woman pregnant during their 2-year on-off relationship denied the paternity of his son and tried to kill his son by injecting HIV-tainted blood in him during his stay in the hospital being treated for asthma when he was only 11 months old!

What kind of a father is he?!

Uwaah, it's been a long time since I updated my LJ.

My only excuse is, I've been busy. :| I know, it's not really that hard, I guess, to do the things I do, but usually, days just pass me by without me noticing until BAM! Something happened to make me aware of the date, like an exam, for example, or a doll meet.

@_@ I mean, wow. It's like I've forgotten what it was like to have a dollmeet. I think I've been too deprived of the things I like doing lately so I've been more so in a daze (well, spaced out) than normal. Sorry... (T-T) I'll try to be more active, promise, but in case I suddenly go AWOL again, it's probably because of the fact that, for me, my classes this semester're really heavy. :( And I am asking for forgiveness in advance, even if I will probably apologize again if it really happens.
